Deon Lendore dominated his rivals at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, on Sunday, producing a 20.85 seconds clocking to strike gold for Abilene Wildcats in the Southern Games men’s 200 metres event. Jahi Hernandez seized silver in 21.21, while bronze was bagged by Kirdell McIntosh in 21.86.
Kamaria Durant captured the women’s sprint double. The Simplex sprinter clocked 11.58 seconds to take top spot in the 100m dash, finishing well ahead of Antiguan Soniya Jones, the runner-up in 11.90. Durant was also dominant in the 200m, winning in 23.49 for a comfortable cushion on second-placed Akilah Lewis (24.29).
Abilene’s Jerod Elcock was golden in the men’s 100m in a wind-assisted 10.35 seconds. Point Fortin New Jets quartermiler Onal Mitchell won the men’s 400m in 46.93, while the women’s 400m title went to Memphis Pioneers teenager Rae-Anne Serville, who completed her lap of the track in 54.14.
