Jereem “The Dream” Richards emerged victorious in his first half-lap race this season, the Commonwealth Games champion clocking 20.45 seconds for top spot in the War Eagle Invitational men’s 200 metres, in Alabama, USA, on Saturday.
Richards, the 2018 First Citizens Sports Foundation Sportsman of the Year, finished ahead of American sprinter Devin Quinn, the runner-up in 20.52 seconds. Another Trinidad and Tobago athlete, Renny Quow was fourth in 21.15. Portious Warren bagged bronze in the women’s discus. The University of Alabama senior landed the implement 52.78 metres.
At the Michael Johnson Invitational, in Texas, Tyra Gittens struck gold in the women’s long jump. The Texas A&M University student jumped 6.43 metres. Reyare Thomas finished fourth in the women’s 200m in 24.25 seconds.
