Jereem “The Dream” Richards announced his arrival on the global sprint stage with men’s 200 metres bronze at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London, England. Two years later, the Point Fortin athlete is hoping to add to his medal collection at the 2019 Worlds in Doha, Qatar.
The Road to Doha has not been as impressive as the build-up to London. Ahead of the 2017 Worlds, Richards clocked a personal best 19.97 seconds, and also produced a wind-assisted 19.98 run and a legal 20.04. His fastest run to date, this season, is 20.14.
“I’m not really satisfied with where I’m at heading into Doha,” Richards told the Sunday Express, “but I know when it’s time to compete I’ll be ready. It’s do or die at this point. I’ve been running good times in practice, so it’s just to go out there and perform now.”
