The World Athletics (WA) formerly IAAF Kids' Athletics Programme is one of the largest grassroots development programmes in the world of sports. The WA Kids' Athletics aims to ensure a steady and sustainable policy of development of the sport of Athletics.

Kids Athletics Programme

The aim of which is to introduce children to Athletics at a basic level by encouraging children of primary-school age to become active especially in this era of internet and video games.

The objectives of the Kids' Athletics Programme (KAP) are to make Athletics the number one participation sport in schools, to educate kids into sport in general and athletics in particular and thus promote a balanced and healthy lifestyle, and to attract and sustain the potential sporting stars of tomorrow.

The National Association of Athletics Administrations (NAAA) is one of the many member Federations that has implemented this programme with the assistance of the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC).

KAP Run Jump Throw

The KAP coupled with the Right on Track Programme (ROT) forms stages 1-3 of the Athletic Development Pathway (ADP) and covers the "FUNdamental and Learn to Train Stages of the best practice of Long Term Athlete Development.

KAP Participants

The programme is not only intended for clubs and Member Federations but also for schools and all institutions who are interested in the well-being of children.

KAP Run Jump Throw

The programme operates by engaging young people through exciting and creative means of becoming physically active. The KAP and ROT are critical stages of development which builds the competency in a Holistic way of all the participants and ultimately feeds into the NAAA Club system

Since inception the programme has received over 8000 participants ranging from 7years to 11years.

Presently the KAP is executed in six (6) school districts - Caroni, North East, South East, St. George West, St. George East & Victoria. Tobago roll out is anticipated for 2021.
