Borel fourth in MonacoTrinidad Express :: 18.07.2014Trinidad and Tobago’s Cleopatra Borel finished fourth as double Olympic champion, New Zealander Valerie Adams, recorded a 53rd straight win in world athletics when capturing the shot put at yesterday’s IAAF Diamond League meeting in Monaco. Adams, the Diamond League record holder (21.03 metres), is favourite for the Commonwealth Games in Scotland. Yesterday, Adams threw 20.38 metres to take victory over Germany’s Christina Schwanitz (19.54m), while American Michelle Carter hurled the steel ball 19.05 metres for a third-place finish. Borrel, meanwhile, put in a best throw of 18.96 metres to finish fourth of six competitors. Russian Kolodyyko Yevgeniya (18.81m) and American Felisha Johnson (18.79m) filled the minor positions. |
